Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers enjoy the convenience of their key fob's remote that comes with features. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the car, start the engine, and even locate it.

Unlocking the Doors

You can enable this feature with the key fob if your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The car will then heat or cool to the temperature it was set at when it was parked, and will continue to run for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Remove the cover that covers the back of the key fob using your fingernail. Under the cover, on a diagonal near the body's edge, there is the button. Remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will fall loose and slide off leaving the manual key blade within! If you're not able to locate the button, check the now-revealed manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.
Closing the Windows
Volvo key fobs have an in-built feature that lets you to immediately roll down all windows. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just to get fresh air in the cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof if you have one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can shut all the windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car using the key fob. This will make an alarm that is loud enough to attract attention and deter thieves. It can also help you return to your home in a safe manner when you've been out all night. Opening the Tailgate

Turning Off the Alarm

Place your keys batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing up, then locate a small black button at the left side of the fob and slide it to the right. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade beneath it.
You can unlock all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you will be able to close the windows and shut the sunroof in the event that they're equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If it does not then the owner's manual must include a reset method.
